An Interview with Jennifer Eklund - Piano Pronto
This month, we will highlight four of these teachers. Jennifer Eklund (on our cover) has single-handedly begun a music publishing company. After years of hard work, attention to detail and superlative customer service she has gained a large following of teachers and students who are loyal to her because they love her work. We caught up with Jennifer when she was between music teacher conferences and asked her to share some of the behind the scenes things that go on in her business.
Getting Students Motivated - Jerald Simon and MusicMotivation.com
Jerald Simon is another teacher/creator featured this month. He has not only composed a series of books, but he has created a teaching philosophy that comes across in everything he does.
Notes with Nick
Nick Ambrosino is back with more of his advice in Notes with Nick.
Games, Worksheets and More! - Susan Paradis and SusanParadis.com
Susan Paradis is a name familiar to many teachers. If you are looking for a fun game or piece of music for your younger beginner students, a visit to her website is a must (although she has resources for more than just the young beginner!)
What's the Definition of Creative? - an Interview
And last, but certainly not least, we will visit with Wendy Stevens of ComposeCreate.com Wendy’s recent release of Rhythm Cup Explorations has been met with rave reviews as is typical of any new product or song she produces.
Resource: Music Notation Software
If after reading about these teacher creators this month you find yourself inspired to start composing your own music, you might want to check out our Resource. Music Notation Software. Everyone is looking for something different in notation software so while no recommendations are given, you will find links to many major products (there are more programs than just Sibelius and Finale available) along with pricing information. Everything you need to start your research as painlessly as possible is found in this resource.
Chord Inversions the Easy Way
And finally, how do you teach your students how to figure out which chord inversion they should use? Chord Inversions the Easy Way may have an answer for you!
